Urgent Announcement for Incoming Students at Istanbul University
The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in Turkey temporarily postponed the opening of the spring semester period at all universities in Turkey due to the Kahramanmaraş centered earthquake until a second announcement.
The following statements were included in the statement of YÖK on the subject:
“Due to the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023 in Kahramanmaraş and directly affected our 10 provinces;
-The fact that our students from this region and studying in our higher education institutions in other provinces will not be able to participate in education,
-The relatives of some of these students were directly affected by the disaster,
-Some students, academic and administrative staff participate in search, rescue and aid activities.
Taking this into consideration, the opening of the spring semester period in all our higher education institutions has been temporarily postponed until a second announcement.”
